I'm reading about the idea of our thoughts, when mixed with emotions, have a real magnetizing effect of creating more thoughts.
I find this idea very powerful. In that, if we have something which we are passionate about, and we have some thoughts in this area - these thought will beget more thoughts. And this just seems to make a lot of sense - and the more thoughts we generate on that which we are passionate about - the more likely we'll come up with that something that really works for us!
Do you see this the same way? Or, do you see that as we generate more thoughts, it's more stuff cluttering our mind? Or something else?

I think you are right Lance - if I understand you correctly. I think our mind gets cluttered when are NOT focused on something that we are passionate about. Our minds will go in all different directions. When our minds are focused in a passionate way that's when we come to life and that's when we come up with solutions for things and give our lives direction. For a long time, I recognized the need for positive self talk, but I didn't realize how important mixing emotion with it was. Once I tried emotions mixed with thought it worked so much better. I'm glad to have come across this principle.

I think Lance's theory is that emotionally charged thoughts will generate others, until THE "starting point" thought stands out. I have found this true in my work. We have brainstorming sessions that work exactly this way, and when we're really onto something, all the ideas come faster and faster, and we're all more and more excited about them, and then ta-da!...THE idea becomes obvious. Finding the starting point is simple, then.
However, I must say I've not found this true in my personal life. There, I seem to see the big picture all at once, with all the endings securely planted in my imagination----and no idea how to get there. Brainstorming, with a group, has real value!

Julie, I think that is the beauty of the Master Mind group that is discussed later in the book. Hill talks about how when two brains come together a "third brain" "appears." (I think that's the right chapter.) Don't you love how the ideas start to flow in the situations you described! One trick I like to use on myself to charge thoughts is telling myself that something is possible. If my brain thinks there is a possibility of something then the ideas start turning and igniting. If I try to argue with myself that something is possible, I just say something like, "But what if it was possible, then what would I do?" Works every time. (Julie, I think you were right about what Lance was trying to say.)

Yes, that is exactly what I was trying to say.
And, Julie, you bring up an excellent point - that doing this in a group setting has real benefits because - as Jennifer states - it like two brains together generate a third brain. And that's a great reason for mastermind groups or trusted advisors in your endeavors.
And, I like, Jennifer, how you tell yourself "it is possible" - very affirming - especially when working through emotions you might have related to what you're doing.

I think it'll be one of those that "speaks" according to what's going on inside. I'd already forgotten about the Master Mind group. Thank you! And Lance is right: You've found a terrifically simple way to have your own brainstorming session. Oh! I just thought of this... When you're able to do your own brainstorming, then you're goals and the avenues to them will be clearer, helping you stay on the right path for you even if the Master Mind group looks in a different direction. Even though they may have excellent ideas, the ideas still need to resonate within you.

Julie, yes, I knew right away that I would want to read it and study it over and over again. I certainly think that certain parts will resonate with us more according to where we are inside.
Master Mind group looking elsewhere - I think that's why Hill emphasizes so much choosing the group so carefully. But, nonetheless, it is important to know how to brainstorm ourselves knowing exactly where we want to go.

I think this real magnetizing effect is similar to the laws of attraction - what you focus on expands. So the more you think about your passion, the more you will generate additional thoughts and ideas about your passion.
And once you have more thoughts and ideas, convert them into action!

So the more you think about your passion, the more you will generate additional thoughts and ideas about your passion. I think that's why he urges us to read our desire/plan out loud to ourselves at least twice a day. I think about it more than that. Stacey, I like all your emphasis on action around here. It's good for me to hear it.

Well put, Stacy... I've found myself thinking about my passions with much more frequency, allowing myself to see them as reality rather than just 'dreams'.
Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but just touching on what Jennifer mentioned about our desire/plan and reading or saying it out loud - how are you guys going with this?
I find that I often think of it or say it (with increasing feeling) at different times in the day, but frequently miss mornings or nights where I'm in a hurry or preoccupied.. maybe i should put up some reminders?

Reminder...that sounds like a great idea Ross! It's another way to keep this right in front of you. I really think I could benefit from this idea as well...

A reminder.... or maybe even set an alarm as a reminder. I use my phone alarm for all kinds of things.
