Thankful I am Alive

I intended to write a blog post yesterday, but now I’m just thankful to be alive! Instead of writing a blog post I was hunkered down in my closet praying and avoiding tornadoes that were literally all around me. MUCH damage was done, a couple of lives lost, many injured and many many homes destroyed. So now I’m just thankful for each breath, spending time with my wonderful husband and praying for the victims. It is very interesting how everything can get put into perspective really fast. God has been very gracious to me and I feel sure He will bless me with some opportunities to help the victims.
Many people will not have a great holiday weekend. I hope each of you do have a happy holiday, count your blessings and give those who are special to you an extra hug.
More storms are projected for Monday…..

Sorry to hear that…
A reminder for the rest of us to appreciate what we have now and cherish every moment of our life.
Good to hear you are safe and sound.

Hi Jennifer,
I’m really glad to hear you’re ok. And my prayers are with those who are suffering great loss and injury. Perspective -it sure reminds you of what really matters. I hope your Easter is filled with much love, especially in light of the past few days.

Alik, thanks for your kind words. I was very fortunate. Not everyone was. An EF4 tornado that cuts a path 23.5 miles long and 1/2 mile wide can sure make us appreciate things fast! It truly is a reminder to cherish every moment we have! We had more storms yesterday, but no tornado touch downs I don’t think. I spent the day at a friend’s house.
Hi Lance. Thank you for your words and prayers. This was among the two most scary times in my life. The other?? - Driving for 3 1/2 hours through these kinds of storms on a trip we took last year. This is a truly great reminder of what is important and what really matters. I hope your holiday was filled with lots of good things as you were away with your family.
Broderick, thanks! I’m glad that this short post helped you to put things in perspective as well. We just never know, so we might as well live each day as if it were our last. I wish you all the best in your life as well.
Davina, thank you for your words. Very unsettling indeed, but thankful I’m ok! I’m still jumpy. Thank you for your prayers. I hope your holiday was full of peace as well.
Evelyn, thank you and yes, thank God I am safe. What a blessing!
Tess, thank you so much! You’re always so willing to help in any way. I really appreciate that about you.
i am glad you and yours are safe.

Storm, thank you. Yes, the power of nature is very awe inspiring. Things were put into perspective very quickly. I am still praying for those who lost so much. Thank you for your comments Storm. It means a lot.
Hi JA,
I was away so sorry for delay but WOW am I happy you are okay. My heart goes out to your community. We had only one close call with a tornado and it had us so scared and huddled in the basement together — I can’t even imagine what it was like. Please let me know if you need anything. Yes, it sure does make you even more grateful for EVERYTHING.
Much love, xo

Hi JM. No worries about the delay. My heart goes out to the people who lost so much or everything. I feel so fortunate and grateful. It still has me shaken up though. I would love to come hang out in your basement the next time a threat comes since I don’t have one now. I’m thinking a drive to NY would be nice.
I imagine you were very scared with your close call - even in a basement! I’m thinking a storm shelter in a basement would be a great idea! Thank you so much for stopping by and for your words.
Jennifer,
I’m very late in reading this post so I hope the storms have passed and you are now in sunshine. On the other hand, I know that the emotional toll of such weather can linger on. It’s shocking the damage weather can cause…and it’s not just the destroyed homes, but also what it does to families. Take good care:~)
Saras last blog post..Story Photo Monday: Behind the door
Hi Sara. Thank you for your kind response. Today was a mostly sunny day. Windy, but plenty of sun. I was VERY much thankful for that. Many people were much closer to the storms than I was, but I really don’t think anyone could be more afraid than I was (and have been). It is definitely amazing what weather can do!! It can damage families, but what I see most is that it brings families closer together as they are more thankful for each other. Good can come from it all. I know though for those who lost loved ones that it is extremely difficult. However, even in that, I know good can somehow come too. Thank you again Sara for your response.
Hi Jennifer,
Wow, God has given you much to be thankful for and it sounds like you are. How blessed are you to have a wonderful husband to spend time with. I pray your spirit is one of peace and sound mind and not one of fear. It’s beautiful that God prepared you for just such a time as this. He is all knowing, all powerful. Amazing.

Audra, welcome and thank you so much for your words. I am very thankful. God has been very good to me. It’s interesting… I became so fearful about tornadoes that nothing else seems to be scaring me now. The blessing that has come from it is that all other fear seems to be scared out of me.
Things that I was fearful about before seem so insignificant. That has been amazing!
Jennifer, I know it’s been a while since I’ve been active in blogosphere but here I am, thankful you and your family are okay. I can only imagine what it must be like to be at the mercy of Mother Nature at its fiercest. As a pilot, I have come to appreciate its power and respect it. Bless you!
Stephen Hopsons last blog post..NEWSFLASH: It’s Official…….
Stephen,
I’ve been thinking about you lately. It’s great to hear from you. I’ve been pretty absent in the blogosphere lately too. I’ve had a lot of other things going on and I know you have too now that you are going back to school and getting all ready for that.
I’m thankful to be okay too!! Yes, being at the mercy of storms like that just kind of leaves a person feeling pretty powerless. I guess you could say it’s pretty humbling. I’m sure as a pilot that you learn to respect the storms greatly.
