I’m a Star!

interview September 30th, 2008

I’m a star!  Well, at least I’m being interviewed at the Adversity University Blog by Stephen Hopson both this week and next week.  I found Stephen’s great site several months back and have always been impressed by his posts.  I quickly subscribed once I found his blog.  After hanging out at his site and commenting for quite sometime I then decided to send him a quick email.  We have been good friends since.  What impresses me about Stephen is his authenticity and …..hold on to your boots…. He is a deaf pilot.  How many of you can say that?!  In addition to that, Stephen is a motivational public speaker!  Yes, you heard me right… Stephen is a deaf pilot AND public speaker.  Also, Stephen is in the process of authoring his first book.  Now, what excuse do you have for not reaching your dreams and goals?!

I’m a bit nervous about this interview.  This isn’t just a little interview, so please give me some good feedback to calm my nerves. :)  If you have anything bad to say, try to hold it in this time. :)

Heroes of Healing: Ron Wilkins

Emotional Healing, tribute September 24th, 2008

Just like Ari Koinuma, from Our Best Version, this wasn’t a post I planned to write next.   But my friend Jenny Mannion of Heal Pain Naturally asked me to participate with her group writing project about Heroes of Healing and I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity.  If you’ve been around here very long then you’ve probably heard me talk about my friend and mentor, Ron Wilkins who passed away earlier this year.  I’ve even dedicated this site to him and much of what I write about I learned from Ron.  So it only seems natural for me to write about him for this writing project.

Ron had a  very rough life from the beginning.  His father rejected him the first time he ever saw him at the age of two and he was raised by Read More »

Are you in Balance?

balance, inner peace, priorities, time management September 18th, 2008

Are you in balance?

I came to the realization recently that I’m out of balance.  Going back to last week’s post, I realized that I have minimized certain aspects of my life.  I spend a considerable amount of time with myself every day (which I require), but I have still been out of balance.  So what’s the deal?  Where is the imbalance coming from?  That’s what I’ve been trying to discover.  I took a lot of time off this week trying to figure it all out and took some different “me time” than usual.  I even broke out the clay and the paint!

This time has been very helpful, but I still have a ways to go yet.  The main things I have figured out so far are: Read More »

Change Your Life One Thought at a Time - Part 5

Coffee, Peace, Raven's Brew Coffee, inner peace, thinking errors September 12th, 2008

Before we get into this week’s thinking errors…..

This week marks a very exciting time for me.  Since I changed my blog to WordPress my plan from the very beginning was to add an online bookstore and coffee shop here.  I wanted a place where people could come and grow in a relaxing environment - a place where people would feel welcome and where they could sip on some coffee while they read.  In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I love bookstores and coffee shops.  They are just so relaxing to me.

While there are still many more changes to come here, Read More »

Change Your Life One Thought at a Time - Part 4

inner peace, marital satisfaction, positive thinking, relantionships, responsibility, thinking errors September 4th, 2008

As we continue our discussion of thinking errors and how to change our life by changing our thinking it’s important to remember that thinking errors are lies - lies we tell ourselves.  And lies never bring about anything good.  We get ourselves into a very tangled mess when we participate in them.

If you missed the first three posts in this series you’ll want to be sure and check them out here:

Labeling and Jumping to conclusions

Filtering Out the Positive and polarized thinking

Overgeneralization

So let’s move on to discuss two more thinking errors in  which many people participate:

6.  Mind reading:  Concluding what others think and do without proof or being told by them

Who knows your thoughts?  Only you and God.  Who knows someone’s else’s thoughts?  Only that person and God.  Saying you know someone else’s thoughts is nothing more than false.  Mind reading gets into people’s Read More »
